My Love Will Follw You

Description

My love will follow you
Down every highway of your soul
You can leave me far behind
But my love will be your shadow
Everywhere you go

So close the door, turn in the key
Leave me here like a memory
My love will follow you, my love will follow you
Even on a road that takes you down where
Cords of human kindness come unwound
My love will follow you, yeah my love will follow you

-My Love Will Follow you by Dierks Bentley

I love that song :]

So I've been experimenting with different styles of drawing. And I must say I really like this style. I think that I might make more pieces like this.

When I first saw this, I immediately loved the warm pastel colors in the piece. The oranges and yellows give off an impression of a sunset or maybe a nearby fire, and the shading with a little bit of purple and cooler tones complements the lighting very well.

I also think you did a wonderful job with the anatomy and her overall pose. The foreshortened arm is very convincing, and her face and expression are very emotive. The wrinkles in her dress, especially around her knees, also look great; they definitely convey a sense of texture and form.

The subtle cursive writing in the background adds to the longing, romantic atmosphere. I like that it's not too bold, which would probably take away from the composition, but just dark enough to add a little more to the piece.

The area that looks like it could use the most improvement is with the line work--It looks very jagged and pixelated, a harsh contrast against the softer colors of the image.

I've only used GIMP a few times, but I think there's an option to use a "paintbrush" rather than "pen(cil)" that will give a softer look to the lines. Using a lower-opacity could help, as could using a color just a little lighter, like a deep purple. You have great definition in the actual colors--You might even be able to do away with the linework all together.

Overall, a very pretty piece! You have a great eye for color, and a knack for creating a very emotional atmosphere. Keep up the good work! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/>
